Margo Manhattan on Madison Ave., whose jewelry has been worn by Beyoncé and other celebs, was robbed Friday afternoon.
A Manhattan jewelry shop beloved by celebrities like Beyoncé was robbed by a creep who tied up the manager Friday, cops said. The robber initially posed as a customer at Margo Manhattan on Madison Ave. near E. 87th St. The manager, who was the only worker in the shop, buzzed the robber in about 2:50 p.m. He asked to see a gold bracelet and she opened a display case, according to the store’s owner. He tied her up and was able to grab thousands of dollars worth of jewelry before being spooked by another worker who happened to arrive at that moment. “Luckily, she opened the door or otherwise the guy could have killed her,” the store’s distraught namesake owner, Margo Manhattan, told the Daily News. Among the stolen items, according to Manhattan, were jewelry worn by Beyoncé and other celebs including an 18-karat white gold bracelet with pave diamonds worth $10,000. “Some of my bigger pieces were taken,” said Manhattan, who was on her way to the shop in a cab when the store was robbed. Investigators were examining security camera footage taken inside and outside the shop, Manhattan said.
